Nut Shooter Update 6.2.13: Ready the Rubber

IMG_3343This is going to be an even shorter post than usual. I cut out strips of Theraband Gold today for my slingshot rifle. Jörg's band calculator indicated that a 17 gram projectile should use 1" wide rubber strips, but when I tried putting tension on the bands with my hands I was quite horrified at the strength of the rubber. A double thickness of these rubber bands stretched to 24" takes something in excess of 15 lb I would estimate. The speed at which they will shoot a projectile, I can only imagine. But it would totally suck to be in the way.Assuming this weapon works, I will be both utterly terrified and giddy at the same time. If the rain clears tomorrow, I will do a test at 50% power...
